With a considerable amount of experience in the film industry and having performed a variety of roles both in front of and behind the camera, Paul Wesley is a versatile American actor, director, and producer. He recently produced the film Before I Disappear (2014), a drama written and directed by Shawn Christensen. The full-length feature, in which Paul also stars, was adapted from the Oscar winning short-film Curfew (2012) by the same director. Before I Disappear won the SXSW Film Festival Audience Award and was selected for the Venice Film Festival’s 11th edition of the Venice Days section. Paul also starred in Amira & Sam (2014) an independent film and cross-cultural romantic comedy. In addition to on-screen acting, Paul recently took to the stage at the Rattlestick Theater in New York to appear in William Francis Hoffman’s off-broadway dark comedy Cal in Camo (2016). That same year he appeared in Mothers and Daughters and The Late Bloomer.
Born in New Jersey to Polish immigrants, Paul is fluent in Polish as well as English. He began his acting career in New York City as a teenager landing several television roles. In 2006 he starred in the lead role in the ABC Family miniseries Fallen. Paul developed his interest in expanding into behind-the-scenes roles while starring in the long running CW show The Vampire Diaries (2009). This led to his directing several episodes of the hit television series. Citizen Media, Paul’s production company founded with partner Bob Levy, currently has a deal with Warner Bros. Television to produce four new television series.
