Shea butter is a type of fat that is rich in essential fatty acids as well as vitamins A, D, E and F. It’s almost identical to the natural moisturizers produced by the skin’s sebaceous glands. Harvested from the nuts of the Shea tree found throughout Africa, the ivory-colored Shea butter is used in salves, lotions, and moisturizers. In this recent interview for Galore mag, she tells us how she started and provides all sorts of entrepreneurial inspiration. She claims she started as a young child, always creatively playing with color. Looking at Doe, you can tell she’s no stranger to color and she certainly has the guts to show it off. She’s beautiful and a proper bill board for her beliefs. Self-Made magazine has billed her one of the top inspiring entrepreneurs of our time. That’s a tall order. Doe has some crazy stories in fact. She said that in her earliest memory of the makeup macabre, she had a slumber party and the girls were dressed up as witches and were playfully attempting to conjure spirits. She then thought she needed her face to be dark and mysterious so out came the makeup and the party turned into a makeup bash!

Of course she was asked what the worst makeup experience she had and that was actually the spring board of experimentation she used for Lime Crime. She said that frankly she used to post some really bad experimentation for show. But, this allowed her to carve her way out into the spectacular success she is now.

And lastly, why the name Lime Crime? A goofy spontaneous handle become the company that would revolutionize makeup forever. As she tells Galore Magazine, Deere began to hit the world of cosmetics when she was still very young. She has always loved the chance to put on makeup and assume and entirely new role in life. It was this particular passion that brought her to the world of the internet quite early as well. She quickly realized that there were other people who also shared her passion and wished to be able to buy items that were all about color. For this reason, she began to think about how she could best fulfill this particular niche. The idea for Lime Crime began to form in her head. Acting quickly, she started up her own company. Her idea was that she could use the net to reach out to customers not only in her own backyard but all over the world. This is one of many reasons why Lime Crime took off. In many ways her timing was just right. The internet was starting to grow and take off. She knew she could reach out to fans without the need to open up a brick and mortar business.

Since that moment online over a decade ago, Deere has been astonished in a way at her own success. From a small idea inside her own head, the business has become one that allows her to be who she is and to bring others inside of her world.
